A silver lining

The Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius pronounced that “perfection of character is this: to live each day as if it were your last, without frenzy, without apathy, without pretense.” “Death is very likely the single best invention of life.”
Don’t get me wrong; I look forward to spending eternity with our all-loving Father, but I’m in no hurry to matriculate. I am however reflecting more about the considerable time and energy previously wasted being angry without cause, and anxious and worried about issues that never materialized. That’s sad!
Thanksgiving Day arrived just 2 weeks after learning I had an aggressive cancer that has no cure. Marcus Aurelius’ words hold a special place in my heart as time takes on a heightened value. My prognosis is gift. I was just reminded that my body is mortal and that time and relationships, often taken for granted, will now be appreciated like never before.
